They had sat in the office for an hour now. Not that he had a watch, and the clock had been behind him, but he'd been able to tell that it was an hour because he'd counted the seconds, plain and simple. His tongue was a little raw from all the times he'd rubbed it over the dominant eyeteeth and canines in his mouth. So he sat, sucking at his tongue as it slowly started to heal, listening as his servant talked to the principal about his enrollment. WHY he had to enroll was by far, way beyond him. Of course, his adoptive parents wanted him to have a normal teenage experience, so sending him to a school full of teenagers would inspire this, right?

God he hoped it didn't turn into anything like The Breakfast Club.

"Of course, there are school uniforms..." he heard the principal say, though there was nothing wrong with what he was wearing, an all black custom tailored armani suit, and a crimson red tie adorned with a little skull and cross bones pin. It was style with a flare, he thought, looking at the tired old tweed jacket the old man had on, smiling some he sat up, flicking hair out of his face.

"I look forward to attending your prestigious school, sir, I hope that you can welcome me openly..." He said, bowing his head as he stood, it was enough of that, he was tired of staying in this room with the scent of old leather, old liquor and thin blood. Rafe stood, bowing too the principal, and took the schedule, thanking him, though his master was already heading out the door.

"Darcia- ah, Lord Darcia, you forgot your schedule," He said, remembering to be formal in public. He followed the young master down the hall way, aware of how many people stopped and turned to see the new student,

"I've forgotten nothing, you have it, do you not?"

"Well, yes.."

"Then you see, I haven't forgotten it." The young master flashed a smile, taking the piece of paper from him as he started to walk down the hall, looking at the schedule and sighed out, before he stopped a young girl on her way to class,

"Could you direct me to this classroom? I am new here, I'm afraid I don't know the lay out of the school as of yet.." He spoke with a accent like that of the Romanian's, smiling his charming smile, she stared at him, and started to stutter, before she blushed and nodded, explaining to him how to get to his classroom.

"Thank you miss," He smiled, bowing some, before he looked to Rafe, who nodded and started to lead, Darcia waved to the girl before he followed his servant, sliding his hands into his pockets in a nonchalant manner, chuckling to himself, "Their eyes are wide as rabbits.." He said softly to Rafe, and sighed out, stopping outside the classroom, Anatomy, not his choice, but good as any, he supposed. Licking his dark hued lips, he knocked on the door, stepping inside and heard everyone go quiet the moment he walked in.

"New student?" The teacher asked, and he nodded, pulling his hand out of his pocket to show him his schedule, and smiled at him, before he turned to look at the class, inhaling before he stopped, blinking and glancing around, tempted to start following that heady scent.

"Class this is our new exchange student, his family came over from abroad,"

He heard the whispers, and then they quieted, all looking at him again,

"Ah, Good Morning... my name is Darcia, Darcia Mac'O'Mara, I just moved here from Romania." He smiled. bowing his head, "It's a pleasure to meet all of you."

With a soft yawn she headed through the droll hallway of Brimstone High, black polished nails clicking against lockers as she passed them. It was time for her to head to Anatomy Class. The teacher was an agreeable one from what she could tell, though his voice was deep and could easily lull unsuspecting students into the deepest slumber. So not what she needed with the language barrier already making it difficult to keep up.

Mirra had been trying to learn English for several years but it had only been a year or so since she transferred to a school in the United States. That's when she learned how much she had slacked off, and how much dialect skewed a language and how it was spoken. Sometimes it was nice though, not knowing what people were saying about you. Impeccable as her hearing was, her selective hearing was just as well. And it's not that it really mattered to her anymore what everyone else thought -- her life was already planned out meticulously by her mother.

Pulling the oversized purse-bag higher onto her shoulder as she had to practically push her way past idling students, the petite girl murmured soft "sorry"s and "excuse-me"s though it was not her fault for any level of physical contact with them as there was no other way to class.

Finally reaching the science room's door she practically sighed with relief. Being around people was such an uncomfortable thing for her. She had no idea where the problem came from, and it didn't help that most of her memory disappeared shortly before she left Spain, but it didn't really matter. Just a couple more years... Nodding in greeting to the teacher, she turned and observed the class. Malachite eyes immediately searched the window area for a seat but of course they were taken. Prime seats with a great view of the school's pool and athletic field; girls would flock to this class early just to get a spot to enjoy a different sort of anatomy than the class itself offered. She herself wasn't interested so much in the physiology of the window seat, but rather the view of the sky. Something about sunlight gave her such a nostalgic feeling, though she couldn't understand the origins of that either. The only seat that seemed to still be open was in the middle of the room near the opposite wall from the windows. Figures. At least she would have the whole lab table to herself she thought, trying to encourage herself to lighten up.

Taking a seat in the plastic chair closer to the window she set her bag on the floor next to her right leg to keep it out of the walkway and pulled a thin black binder out of it, getting ready for class to start. The other students were idly chatting to one another and doing the same when the classroom door opened again to reveal what was surely the most handsome boy in the entire school, making a everyone go silent, including the teacher, who quickly recovered. Mirra was still in the process of digging for a pen in her bag when something gave her a jolt as she heard Darcia introduce himself. What was that? She thought to herself before she sat back up properly and caught her first glimpse of the exchange student, heart going aflutter immediately.

"Ay dios mio!" she murmured softly, scoffing and trying to recompose herself as she watched the teacher motion in her direction. Bright green eyes flicked to look around the classroom, seeing girls glaring at her and the fact that all other seats were full but the one to her right. Of course, why doesn't that just figure? Her eyes drifted back to the handsome face, the dashing suit, charming demeanor, and flitted down to her binder on her desk. She wasn't sure whether this interesting turn of events would be a blessing or a curse.

Darcia slid into the seat beside the strangely attired girl, hyper aware of the students around him, he glanced around the room, head tilting to the side before he looked to the teacher, waving his hand dismissively, like a king to his court jester,

"Sorry for the interruption sir, you may, however, continue with your lessons on the body's anatomy."

He spoke with such elegance that the sarcasm and insult was expertly hidden to those not so well trained of ear, even to those who ahh-ed at such finesse from a boy their age.

'Wow he's such a gentleman!'

'Yea! damn that Mirra for getting to sit beside him! Why am I sitting next to this loser?'

'H-hey! But I know what you mean.. he seems like such a great guy! Lookit that suit!'

'Like a prince!'

and the whispers went on, some boys faked bravado, while secretly they were awestruck by the confidence the other seemed to exude.

-"Ah, yes, class if you would turn to the next chapter in your text books, we'll begin to delve into the human circulatory system!" The tired old man seemed to even be a little more chipper, flowing with the mood of the classroom like a surfer riding a wave.

"Hmm, my favourite part of the human body.." Darcia gave a little wicked grin to himself, glancing to a girl who had overheard him, "It's one of the most important organs, after all." He said as a matter of fact, before he returned his attention to his very breathtaking lab partner, giving her one of his more charming smiles that seemed more from the smirk family.

"Miss Mirra is it? Would it be of any trouble to you to share your text book with me? Only until I have acquired my own of course," He smiled, resting against the lab table casually, every moment was precise and sure, garnet eyes glittered like gems in the sun shine, and he adjusted himself accordingly to be in her shade, though he wasn't pure yet, the light still bothered his eyes to some degree.

She kept her eyes on the desk for as long as she could...which wasn't very long but seemed like ages to her. She couldn't understand why but she wanted to look at him; to look and never look away. Her malachite eyes cautiously glanced over at him, and then around the classroom but finding that a bad idea. All seemed to be looking in their direction, many glaring at her hard enough she felt like an apparition-- their eyes bored through her so thoroughly.

She knew some of the looks that were being thrown at him, she herself received some when she started school here...but they went away soon enough. One can always find people spiteful enough to turn something from gold to rust. Except this time it was likely not to go away for him-- but instead it would bring hell on earth to her. She just knew it. 'Just a couple more years...' she thought to herself encouragingly.

His voice made her cheeks flush, as though they weren't already. It was so mellifluous, so elegant, but so nonchalant at the same time. She wondered if anyone else noticed, or if maybe she was just yet again misunderstanding the way someone has spoken english. It was like everything he said was an inside joke.

Blankly she stared up at the board, the teacher enthusiastic as ever, something rumored neeeever happened. 'I guess there's first time for everything...' she thought again to herself, absently stroking a lock of green-streaked black hair that had found its way over her shoulder.

She froze as he spoke again, turning to really look at him, eyes a bit wider than normal, accented by the black eyeliner, making her look completely innocent; sort of like a deer-in-headlights you could say. "S-si, My name is Mirra..uhm...Shatta." she spoke softly, stumbling over and nearly forgetting her own name, it made her pout some, disgusted with herself.

"hnnn...." She murmured, trying to translate in her head through her frazzled thoughts. "Oh my buk!" she finally responded, her accent making her words choppy. Usually she used more care when she spoke aloud but this was an off day it seems. Almost hysterically, she leaned down to reach into her bag, managing to bump her left temple against the corner of the lab table which made her groan softly but didn't deter her from digging in her bag for the Anatomy textbook. As she was leaning she realized that her black buttonup was missing a button and with her at this angle was showing off more of her chest than she was comfortable with. As she jerked to pull it together she managed to bump the underside of the table. "Oi" she grumbled to herself as she yanked the book out and flopped it onto the table before pulling her shirt back into place.

She had never been so clumsy in her entire life, why now of all times?! How humiliating. The few chuckles amongst the class confirmed her worry that it had been witnessed by others. Oh god how she wanted to cry right now, the first 5 minutes with this boy who set her heart to explode and she makes an utter fool of herself. Sheepishly she looked over to him again, pursing her lips some as she thought of what to say. "Use it. I read after classé." She nodded to him and turned to open her binder onto a blank page to start writing her notes. She had learned a phrase from hearing the computer gamers in school and completely understood it now. 'Epic fail, Mirra. You just lost the game.' her heart was swollen and throbbing in defeat as she tried to catch up to the lecture on homeostasis and the basics of pulmonary circulation.

"Mirra Shatta, what a beautiful name," Garnet eyes lit up, smiling and chuckling softly, as he studied the exotic beauty, she was something rare for him to look at, and couldn't stop looking at as a matter of fact. He watched her fumble over herself trying to retrieve her book, smiling in some amusement,

"Are you alright?" he asked her in a soothing tone, he heard giggling behind him and sat up, brow furrowing briefly before one of the girls yelped, and he turned to look at his shadows, stretching and causing ruckus as usual, and made a face at them until they stopped. He turned back to face his lab partner, not wanting anyone to notice his or his shadows strange behavior. Darcia looked to her and smiled softly, reaching out to pat her forearm gently,

"I hope I'm not making you nervous..." he said to her with a small concerned smile, actually looking sincere as he said it instead of simply faking it. He wasn't that type of person afterall. He reached out and took her hand politely in his and kissed her knuckles with dark tinted lips, his skin was cool, but not abnormally so, some part of him was still human anyways. "Please call me Darcia, and I'm sorry to say that though I am well trained in many tongues.. that proper Spanish was never my specialty, so you'll please forgive me for my faults." he murmured and smiled to her innocently. When he heard the teacher clear his throat, a flash of annoyance passed over his features and returned his attention to the front,

"Forgive me sir, I was simply introducing myself to my lab partner." he waved his hand as if royalty giving his court permission to continue, and pulled out his own notebook a pen, scribbling down the lesson and writing out the notes as they were given in a sweeping sort of script that made the words almost unreadable. Every once in a while during the class he would look to her, simply to see her, each time he'd tried to see something different, the way the sun made her raven-and-emerald hair glitter like jewels, her exotic eyes, the way her lips pouted when she was in deep thought. Whenever she looked up he would smile and return to work, and when the class ended, he stood, and handed her book,

"Ms Shatta, if you wouldn't mind my asking, this school is new to me and I would simply get lost." he started, though he stopped and looked to the small group of students that had gathered behind him,

"Hey, Darcia.. we could show you to your next class! What do you have?" One of the boys stated, starting to lean over to look at his schedule and he pulled his hand back so they couldn't see.

"Oh! Darcia! We have english together! How cool!" One of the nosier girls squealed, and he tried to keep the bemused expression from his face and keep from rolling his eyes at how easily amused these teenagers were.

"If you please, I was asking Ms Mirra for assisstance." He said calmly, looking back to her, brows raising as if pleading with her to agree, smirking some, he could only act refined for so long.

"Why?"

"Yea.. Mirra's too dumb to know her way around the school,"

Darcia felt an overwhelming amount of anger rise up in him, and without really thinking, he grabbed his things and Mirra's belongings and grabbed her wrist in a very gentle manner, and lead her through the small crowd, shoving one of the boys,

"You don't deserve to be near her." He said with a soft growl, glaring at the group, shadows gobbling up backpacks on his way out of the room,

"Wow... he's so cool!" One of the girls gasped, her friends giggling beside her, "We should warn him though about that she-devil." her friend replied, the boys shrugging and dispersed, though.. oddly couldn't find any of their belongings..

He was still leading the lithe beauty beside him and didn't stop until he'd gotten himself lost, and he was calmed down, he let go of her wrist, letting his fingers linger briefly on her skin as he stopped them in an empty doorway, staring at her silently for a few moments before running a hand through his hair with a sigh.

"Do they talk to you like that all the time???" He asked, brows furrowing in concern, his garnet eyes still glittered with sparks of anger, he couldn't understand how they could shun such a beautiful person, and he didn't need to be a mind-reader to know how beautiful she was on the inside. He shifted, and pulled her bag off of his shoulder, "Sorry, it was irritating.. hearing them talk like that.. where I come from we respect each other as equals." He explained calmly, face hidden by shadows as he leaned back against the wall, handing her her bag with another apology, sliding his hands in his pockets,

"So.. now I'm lost.. can you be my escort?" he asked with one of his silly lopsided smiles, looking a lot more relaxed around her now that he wasn't being watched by dozens of people.

She murmured softly as she wrote her notes, a habit she hadn't broken and in many cases didn't even realize she was doing. Her writing was an organized sort of messy, and pages cluttered as she wrote Spanish notes in the sidebar. Mirra was doing her best to keep her attention off of him and on the task at hand. Her hand still tingled from his kiss, her cheeks burned from embarrassment and she felt warm and flush everytime she caught him looking at her. Those eyes, such an unnaturally intriguing, gorgeous, burning crimson. What a blessing, what a curse.

And with that, the bell rang. She was looking at her notes at the time and frowned. Already over. Time could sure be relentless. She looked up, pushed out a smile as he returned the textbook.

"Si! Es no problema!" the girl said, with as much enthusiasm as she could. "ehm..." she started, abruptly stopping and looking down as the other students interjected. It was fine, they could do it, and probably better than her.

As they had his attention she gathered her things and prepared to leave. Halfway to slinging the bag onto her shoulder, the blood rushed to her face as she stood. Stiffly turning to see Darcia, and a very leery group of kids staring at her she had no idea what to say or do. And before she really had a chance to make any such decision, Darcia had a hold on her and was lugging her through the crowd. Their reactions did not surprise her in the least, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt her feelings. No one enjoys being called stupid or a she-devil. But it quickly traveled to the back of her mind as she had no choice but to tuck in close to him to keep from being separated in the crowd.

Her face was hot as she caught a whiff of him. She didn't know if it was his cologne, shampoo, soap or what, and it didn't matter; it was fragrant and pleasant. An unknown image flashed in her mind and just as quickly dispersed.

Malachite eyes watched the stir of emotion on his face, intrigued and unknowingly entranced.
"Hnn..." she murmured, eyes averting down to the faded linoleum.

"Well...people fear her. They fear what is not understood." she spoke calm and even, slowly letting her eyes meet his again, a smile coming to her dark lips at last.
"They think I am Vampir." to this she chuckled at how ridiculous it sounded and shook her head.
"Don't know why. Not at all."

She watched him, almost afraid he would react badly but somehow almost certain he would understand.
"Mirra can't say she knows much of equality, don't think it exist really. Even in America. Darcia you are true strange." a genuine smile lightened her face and she giggled at him, he who was so nonchalant to the world. Valiant even.

Grinning as he loosened up she nodded. "Of course! What manners does this girl have if no?" she reached out her hand for his schedule. It was completely steady.
